Terry Winborne, Tinsmith

Meet Terry Winborne;
“I have been a tinsmith as a hobby since 1976. I got started because of having access to old tools that my mother acquired in her collecting. She got me interested after she took a tinsmithing class at Landis Valley Museum in Pennsylvania. Since I first started I have worked with tinsmiths in New York, Pennsylvania and North Carolina to learn techniques and collect patterns. I have some patterns I have created but the majority are traditional patterns. The tools I use are made between the 1820’s  and the 1990’s. The metal is called tin but it is tinplated steel and is very similar to what was used for over 200 years.   My mother still works with me from time to time in the shop.”
